Helping the Unseen: Shelterica’s Urban Cat Feeding & Neutering Campaign
Not every animal in need lives behind the fence of a shelter.
Many roam the streets, hiding under staircases, bushes, and parked cars — invisible to most, but not to us.
That’s why this spring, Shelterica launched a grassroots campaign focused on helping free-roaming urban cats in Kraków, Leipzig, and Berlin.
Two-fold Mission: Sterilize & Support
Our approach is simple but effective:
-
Feed street cats regularly and build trust.
-
Neuter/Spay them to prevent overpopulation.
-
Provide medical care when needed.
-
Return or rehome, depending on the animal’s condition and sociability.
“Sterilization is kindness. It stops the cycle of suffering before it starts.”
— Kasia, Shelterica volunteer
What We've Done So Far:
-
Set up over 15 feeding stations in hidden courtyards and alleyways across Wrocław and Leipzig
-
Worked with local vets to neuter/spay 12 cats in just 3 weeks
-
Provided flea treatment and basic care for injured strays
-
Partnered with small rescue groups to rehome the most socialized individuals
What We Use Your Support For:
-
High-protein wet food
-
Feeding station materials (insulated boxes, bowls, waterproof coverings)
-
Traps and transport crates for safe sterilization
-
Medical procedures
-
Local vet partnerships
Why It Matters
Urban cats live short, hard lives. Most are born outside, most never get touched, and many suffer needlessly.
We believe these animals deserve better — even if they never make it into a home.
